Title: August 16, 2009. Skagit River - Pink (humpy) salmon opener
Post by: Nick on August 16, 2009, 09:27:22 PM
Went and fished the Skagit river this afternoon for a couple of hours. We fished near Young's bar upriver of Edgewater park and were casting pink spoons. Started off on the west side of the river but showed up late enough in the day that we couldn't get a spot. People were lined up plunking through the main spot so we were forced to wade out and fish the lower reach. Didn't get anything there so we drove around to the other side of the skagit and fished a little farther up. Between myself and my three buddies we hooked into several fish but only managed to land one.
People plunking with large 3-4oz weights, spin-n-glows and sandshrimp were doing quite well. We saw some stringers of fish with 6+ humpies on them.
There are lots of fish in the river right now so get out there while they're in!
