What's interesting is that on the escapement reports, they have a 99,000 egg intake but no fish listed. Anyone know where they came from?
they live spawned last years inbred hotdogs and kept them in tanks and fed them powerbait for the last 12 months and are respawning them again hoping for double down syndrome incest fish in the future.

I've got to know stanley a bit over the last few years, so will offer up some, as he hasn't been keeping us current here on fishwhatcom.  After a heart attack 2 years ago, hes really working on his health these days.  We try to walk around lake padden at least once a week weather permitting, and he is down to what he calls his "fighting weight" (about 290).  He became so fond of berry picking that he took a job at boxx farm.  Keeps a few bucks coming in and snacking healthy.  The girls that work at boxx love him, mainly because he's always hitting on them with lines like "if I was 20 years younger and 100 pounder lighter".  He also offers to take his shirt off and flex.  Unfortunately his old car finally died, and he was forced to buy a new one.  Got a great deal from a Russian out by Kendall on a '93 Taurus just the other day, we took it to sonic for wings and milkshakes.  Handles like a dream.

Yes vedder is business as usual.  I believe targeting sockeyes is allowed, but they aren't to be retained.  As the chemist said, the bulk are headed up to chilliwack lake.  The 'red' spring run is about over, they say it peaks in mid July.  Not a big run like the whites in October though.  The last week of September usually sees the first fishable push of fall salmon into the river, and especially so if there's a rain event.  As much as I like going up there for the relaxed spring steelhead fishery, I make less and less trips because it's such a circus when there's fresh fish coming in.  It's still as viable an option as anywhere for this time of year though.

washingtonians pay the highest resident fishing licenses in the country, have the most lengthy and complex regs book, (which has proven insufficient enough to require the use of WIFI to see if you can fish, for christs sake).  but after all that, its hard to know when things will open... as the WDFW website is currently down.  oh well.  at least i have my discover pass and AIS permit!

What in the name of the fishwhatcom-seven-pounder is going on around here? Where is steelheader? what happened to gary? Where are all the fantastic trout opener reports? somebody say something.
I am still around, more or less laying idle (as we all are) hoping for some kind of season on river fishing around here.

I guess I will be spending a bit more time up north as well, as my sources tell me the hatchery won't be nearing their eggtake goals anytime soon.  2 salt steelhead and 5 1/4" mesh go together like Tetris blocks

the hatchery's long term goal is to get just enough fish back to justify a closure the following year

I saw on another forum that the stilly went to emergency regs, gotta protect those few inbred hatchery steelhead that will be coming back!  That announcement got me thinking, as its that time of year for our annual local closure to be announced (you know, to "meet eggtake goals").  Last years eggtake goal was zero, by the way.  Thanks to the closing the entire system, we managed to meet our goal.  In my opinion, and using history as a measure, I think theres little chance there won't be a restriction coming soon to the Nooksack.  Will it be the classic welcome bridge to hatchery closure?  The whole system (like last year)?  or maybe we can have what is currently in place on the stilly, going to restrictive gear and mandatory release of hatchery fish?

I had my motor stolen too, last week.  It was also locked to the transom.  A lot of shady cocksuckers around here that will do anything to feed their lifestyle of thievery and meth.  I was home when it happened too.

I learned a lot from this article, so I thought I should make it available.  It slowly wore me down as I read, realizing how wrong I was about the lummis.  I now know that the firsthand exposure I have had over the years is all dead wrong. Kudos to the herald to reinforce the positive stereotypes carried by the misinformed liberals around here!
