Title: August 23, 2009. Whatcom & Skagit Salmon report
Post by: Nick on August 23, 2009, 01:50:19 PM
Overall, from listening to talk and going out to local rivers and water bodies it sounds like fishing has been pretty slow this past week.

Puget Sound, Marine Area 7 - The Fish and Wildlife people recording catchs at Squalicum harbor have been saying that fishing was slow this weekend with a few pinks being brought in.

Skagit River - Fishing has been slow on the Skagit. It got off to a good start on the opener last Sunday but has slowed down to almost a halt. Many people are saying they are putting in multiple hours and not catching anything and hardly seeing anyone catching anything. The river is discolored from the warm weather towards the end of the week and it doesnt seem like there are as many humpys moving in as last weekend.

Nooksack River - Closed until Sept. 1.

Samish River - heard some reports of Kings being caught. Seems like lots of people have been heading to the usual spots near the mouth with mixed reports of fish being caught and not.

Looking for any info on where the fish are or what to use to get them to bite.
