DJ- you dont need anyone to show you the vedder.  its hands down the easiest place to just drive around and fish there is.  a road parallels the whole 15 miles of fishable water.  places to park all over the place, and foot trails on the banks every which way.  locals are friendly but goofy.  if you live in kendall its a 40 minute drive.

Fishing Discussion / Nooksack Steelhead Updates
« Last post by dj2loud on January 13, 2018, 07:10:58 AM »
Hi all, well my weekend is a bust! I was supposed to head out to forks to fish with Issac Prince of NO SLACK GUIDE SERVICE but was cancelled due to the rivers rising from all the rain on thursday and friday and supposed to continue thru next week.... Fished the nook for a few hours friday morning, Hooked 6 coho, and 3 chum... YES I DID SAY 3 CHUM still in the system and a few more still on beds..... Hooked two steel but hooksets were not good and lost them both a few feet from the bank... They are here and at least one of them was decent sized... Started out at the firehouse and ended up at the 9 bridge with a long walk back...... Been hearing reports from a local guide that there was 2 nets strung up below the hatchery at kendall, and 2 still in the lower river near deming... Can't confirm them with my own eyes but this guys pretty damn reputable......

No problem.  The river keeps dropping, much to my surprise.  I thought it would rise due to all that rain and melting snow.  Might have to make a trip very soon.

Thanks Wall-E. I haven't ventured out their since mid fall. Probably won't since that river is a zoo and the fishing isn't better than my regular Washington rivers.  Glad to see someones having some luck though.

Fishing Reports / Chedder 2018

Decided to go hit the cheddar this fine day.  The river is fishable but there is a lot of snow melt going on and visibility is about a foot.  I caught a nice juvenile steelhead in the mid river section.  I saw a guy across from me hook a nice steelhead, but then lost it.  I decided to move up river and hooked a really nice steelhead on my first cast.  I lost it right up against the rocks, as I was about to land it. Can't win them all, I guess.  I believe the coming rain will change the river very soon.

Yesterday (1/4/18) there was a net in below the SF confluence, right in the middle of a great hole I was planning to fish. If I could figure out how to downgrade a photo enough to post on here I would attach it.
