biscuits OR gravy?
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:03:47 PM »
What a day! All of this talk of politics, conference calls, skyping with administrators, walking around, waving, handling bucket after bucket of KFC, etc. has really boosted my appetite. As I lie here on my recliner in my tighty whities, with a nice family pack of breaded "cod" fish piled up on a paper plate resting ever so sturdily on my bare chest, I can't help but wonder what I should have for breakfast tomorrow. And then it got me thinking about biscuits, but not just biscuits though, gravy too. But not together I have never understood that. Why would someone take a perfect, god given gift like a biscuit and ruin it by saturating it in gravy? And why would someone take a complete "miracle food" like gravy and put a biscuit in it? Well fish whatcom nation, I'd like to share with you one of my many favorite things.

1 Steemer sized recipe of bucket gravy:

2 lbs bacon (i like the Hemplers)
1 cup butter milk 1 cup whole milk
3 cups flour
4 tblspoons salt
pepper to preference

Cook bacon/ chop fine
Mix it HARD for 1 minute (or until you start to sweat which is usually less than a minute) on low heat.

BOOM !
fill a bucket with gravy and enjoy.
A neat little trick I learned, if you save your 44oz cup from 711 you can fill it with gravy to go. Just keep in mind that you'll want to chop the bacon very fine to make it up the straw.

That seems like an awful lot of flour.

It would make sense to me that you'd add less flour if you went the "to go" route, am I right?

Or an "un-slim" version of the "epic meal time".
