Where you been fishing?
« on: May 23, 2019, 08:00:13 AM »
What have you been fishing for this year?

Iíve been hitting trout and bass around town, but getting excited for rivers to open up. Springers and summer runs this weekend!

Been checking here off and on, nice to see a new post.   I have been fly fishing Toad lake, doing so so all hatchery fish, I did hook one lunker but lost it.  I think the nooksak opens soon?   Have not checked regs.   Buddy caught a nice fish on the Skagit yesterday, not sure where he was though and he has a sled.

You had 72 views, so some people still around.   ;)

Iíve been trolling flies around toad as well. Lots of fresh stockers, and landed one last week that was about a pound.

I did get out this weekend on the Nooksack. Itís a beautiful time of year to hit the river!

Decided to go for a dog walk with my new pup on the South Fork of the Nooksack.  I was disappointed when I got there to see two guys fishing closed waters and actually hooking fish with small little cleo spoons.  As soon as I got there they got spooked, so they knew they were there fishing illegally.  I let my friend Mr. Valentine know what's up on the SouthFork.

That's disapointing to hear. Unfortunately that kind of thing seems pretty common. Thanks for reporting it. Hopefully we see some enforcement up there now.

There are native runs of spring chinook and summer steelhead in there, which is why it's closed to fishing now. I've heard horror stories of people catching 'huge' rainbows and taking them home for dinner. Unfortunately closing it to all fishing will keep the responsible anglers off the river, and there will be less eyes on the river so to speak now to report illegal fishing.

The state and the natives have been looking for an excuse to totally close down that river for all sport fishermen.  Yeah, go ahead and let a few jerks fish so they can ruin it for the rest of us, great mentality.  I will not stand by and let others break the law.  Those fish are there spawning and should be left alone to do their thing.

The point I make is quite simple, wdfw donít give a shit if the south fork dries up and the fish become extinct, they donít own a hatchery on it, itís a tribal run river and the enforcement officers are continually told you canít touch anybody or anything on it.... Iím not condoning illegal fishing but when is anything gonna change? We pay pay pay and get shorter seasons, limited fishing, no fishing in some areas, fishing gets closed before the run even shows up, and god knows how else we get screwed... after attending the last meeting in mills creek itís clear that the tribes dictate what wdfw will allow its constituents to fish for and when we fish for them..... thereís no changing the boldt decision so fish where, when and how you wanna fish...

!!!!!!!  take a look at the skok last year, 29,000+ fall king salmon made it to the state run hatchery on a river you and I canít fish on because the tribes ď own ď the river.....
