Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout 7-10 range

I Went and fly fished Hutchinson creek, off Mosquito lake Rd, on the opening day for streams which is the first Saturday in June. The campground on Hutchinson Creek is closed and the road is gated so we parked at the gate and walked in past the old campground. We fished dry flies and caught a few 7-10 inch rainbow and cutthroat trout. This stretch of the stream is very beautiful with some nice deep pools.

After fishing for an hour or two we drove over to Racehorse Creek on the other end of Mosquito Lake Rd. During the landslide events of the past winter it appears that a very large one must have blocked the stream above the waterfall and then blew out becuase this stream is completely destroyed. What used to be a beautiful hike in to a nice serene pool for fishing, swimming and sight seeing is now a pile of broken logs and rocks. There are no fish left here so we took a few pictures and hiked back out to the car. It's no good for fishing here anymore but is still a nice short hike. To access this spot turn on Mosquito lake rd off of highway 542. Turn left on North Fork rd and keep going straight. The road turns to gravel and when you reach the bridge turn right. There is a turn out shortly after the fork in the road where you can park and hike in.
