On December 1st, the North Fork of the Nooksack river from the Mosquito Lake Rd. bridge upstream to just above the Hatchery will close to all fishing until further notice.  The reason for the closure is that the hatchery needs to be assured that they will get their broodstock hatchery steelhead.

Not to worry, this same closure went into effect last year, with the river re-opening to fishing on December 18th after the hatchery had met broodstock needs from returning hatchery winter steelhead.  Likely, unless the return is poorer than last year, the same situation will occur this year with the river re-opening in December for fishing.

This closure also effects Whatcom Creek in Bellingham.
