Located near Bellingham in the Glenhaven area, Cain lake offers good fishing and is usually very good for opening day and the weeks after. Cain Lake near Bellingham is stocked with lots of catchable size Rainbow trout and a few large triploids trout as well. Largemouth bass can also be caught and can grow quite large in Cain lake. Fishing from a boat is recommended but some shore access can be found as well.

Can I put my 1 man , 2 pontoon 9 foot boat in cain lake and does it have to be inspected?
That’s a good question, and we’re not 100% sure on. At this point it seems that inspections are only on Lake Whatcom and Samish, but it’s possible there are others now. Also inflatable boats may be exempt. For example, paddleboards (including inflatables) are exempt at Lake Whatcom. It would be best to do some research. http://whatcomboatinspections.com/ has more info. It says “Permit fees are not required for surfboards, paddle boards, and kite boards (of any size); float tubes and water sport toys; or inflatables that are 10 feet or less in length.”
